5 Nations Trophy T20 Cricket Tournament 2016

From last ball finishes and super over deciders to power hitting and great comebacks are the most exciting, silly and downright wacky plays in the Ramada 5 Nations Trophy T20 Cricket Tournament played in UAE last week. Tournament was organized by Young Talents Cricket Academy – Sama Sports in association with Ajman Cricket Council and Durham Ajman.

More than 200 Youngsters from South Africa, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, UAE and Bahrain played 33 games of highly competitive Cricket over 8 days, games were played in Sharjah International Cricket Stadium, Durham – Ajman and Ajman Cricket Council grounds, one of the biggest tournaments hels in UAE for youngsters.

Unbeaten Indian Team won the finals of U19 category beating strong Sri Lankans. UAE U15 team, consisting players of mixed nationalities won the U15 category beating Sri Lankan U15s. Nail-biting U13 finals won by South Africans beating the strong Indian youngsters. Finals was played in the Sharjah International Stadium followed by the Awards Ceremony

Team manager of South Africans, Shafeik Jacobs, said “I have visited UAE for numbers of years and participated in many tournaments, I must say, this one is the best, it’s very well organized and all the players experienced international standards and moreover outstanding Cricket”

The tournament was earlier commenced with a grand capping ceremony held at Ramada Hotel and Suits Ajman followed by a gala dinner. The ceremony was attended by few legends of UAE Cricket. Chief guest Shaji Ul Mulk of Ajman Cricket Council and other guests of honours, Mazhar Khan of Sharjah Cricket Council, Ifthikar Hamdani of Ramada Hotel and Suits and Geoff Cook of Durham Cricket County UK, addressed the ceremony and highlighted the importance of the development of youth Cricket in the UAE and appreciated YTCA’s contribution towards it.
YTCA – Sama Sports announced their next big tournament at the awards ceremony – Young Talent Union Cup – 2016, where players of U15 and U17 age categories will be competing each other representing Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm-Al-Quwain, Fujairah, Ras Al Kaimah, Abu Dhabi and Al-Ain teams. Tournament will be played under floodlights during the holy month of Ramadan.
